As promised in our post on “Hardware is Hard”, we are doing a complete 3-part series on Teams, and their importance to a start-up. In this post, we write about how we survived the COVID-19 lockdown. And below you will find links to three articles written by our teammates on their experience at Orxa in their own words.
The first quarter for @OrxaEnergies started with a big HIGH! We had just finished the unveil of the Mantis at India Bike Week 2019 (check out the video below). …
Do you know all the “dirty secrets” of electric vehicles? Three Myths & Two Facts — We’re the EV MythBusters!
This is the second article in a series on the myths that lead to misunderstandings & poor adoption of EVs. In the previous article in this series, we covered myths surrounding the range of electric vehicles, “range anxiety” and factors that affect range. In this article, we cover one of the most important misunderstandings around Electric Vehicles — the Pollution caused by EVs!
As builders of Performance Electric Vehicles (EV), we often get asked all the prevailing myths, mythologies & misunderstandings surrounding EVs & Batteries. EVs are a new(-ish) technology, not yet as stable/known as the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles.
We get asked about “Range”, about charging — whether it’s about charge/swap, to charge slow/fast, or use AC/DC (not the band) — , and the lifecycles of batteries. We also get asked about the pollution caused by EVs (yes! we get asked this!), and so many other doubts.
Take the example of Range —

‘FAME’, fortune & a fickle fate in the nascent EV ecosystem in India!
The long-awaited FAME II scheme was finally introduced last week! All the EV makers breathed a collective sigh of relief as the FAME II doubles the outlay to INR 10 thousand crores! (Initially decided outlay was around INR 5500 crores).
The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal for implementation of the second phase of Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid & Electric Vehicles (FAME-II) in India, finance minister Arun Jaitley said on Thursday, 28th March.
The scheme will come in play from 1st April 2019. It is…
a.k.a. Tips, tricks, and other common sense we’ve learnt building our electric motorcycle in Bangalore.
This is part 2 of a two-part series, focusing on running a hardware startup successfully in a predominantly software-driven, asset-light startup ecosystem. The first part can be found here.
Its been three years since we started Orxa Energies and we’ve seen the hardware space in India evolve. We see a lot more startups setting off on this adventure on their own. We wanted to share our “Startup Lessons” with other adventurous folks out there.
a.k.a Why is Orxa Energies building an Electric Motorcycle in India’s Silicon Valley?
This is part 1 of a two-part series on the joys & challenges on running a hardware startup in a predominantly asset-light, IT-talent driven startup ecosystem. Part 2 of this series can be found here.
When we started Orxa Energies, we just wanted an electric motorcycle that we wanted to ride. Looked around for electric bikes and found only Zero Motorcycles away in the US!
So we set off to build one for ourselves — I mean, what could possibly go wrong, right?
